Fiberglass Laminates for Composite Sandwich Panels
Fiberglass laminates form the outer facings of sandwich panels, providing structural strength, stiffness, durability, and environmental resistance while working in combination with a lightweight core material such as foam, honeycomb, or balsa.
In sandwich panel construction, fiberglass laminates serve as the load-bearing skins that resist tensile and compressive forces while the core maintains panel thickness and transfers shear loads. This configuration creates an exceptionally strong yet lightweight structure with high flexural rigidity and excellent strength-to-weight performance. Fiberglass laminate facings are widely used in transportation, architectural panels, industrial enclosures, marine applications, clean rooms, and recreational vehicles due to their corrosion resistance, moisture resistance, dimensional stability, and long service life.
Surface finishes can range from smooth gel-coated decorative surfaces to textured industrial coatings designed for slip resistance or enhanced durability. Custom colors, textures, fire-retardant additives, UV protection, and antimicrobial coatings may also be incorporated to meet specific performance and aesthetic requirements.
